We were commissioned to remove, conserve and remount the Iznik ceramic tiled fireplace situated in the corridor adjacent to Gallery 33. The fireplace was to form part of a touring exhibition of Islamic artefacts, so it was essential to design and construct a lightweight, demountable structure to support the exhibit. Royal Museum of Scotland - Gallery 6

The sub floor had deteriorated beneath the five geometric and encaustic mosaic pavements, resulting in the tiles breaking and detaching, posing a safety hazard.

We lifted and restored the encaustic tiles, supplied matching remanufactured tiles and refixed The images illustrate the scale of the work and quality of the pavements.
