oject: Iznik Chimney
Client: Victoria & Albert Museum

We were commissioned to remove, conserve and remount the Iznik ceramic tiled fireplace situated in the corridor adjacent to Gallery 33. The fireplace was to form part of a touring exhibition of Islamic artefacts, so it was essential to design and construct a lightweight, demountable structure to support the exhibit. Iznik Chimney

Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust

In the washroom of the Commissioner’s House, Chatham Dockyard, all four walls are decorated with English Delft tiles (circa 1710). During refurbishment, wet and dry rot were found, consequently the tiles had to be removed for the remedial work to be undertaken. Heritage Tile Conservation removed and reinstated the tiles where necessary.

Below are images of the Delft tiles, documented prior to removal and a damaged tile showing stages in the restoration process.
