Case Study
|
Chatham Historic Dockyard TrustIn the washroom of the Commissioner’s House, Chatham Dockyard, all four walls are decorated with English Delft tiles (circa 1710). During refurbishment, wet and dry rot were found, consequently the tiles had to be removed for the remedial work to be undertaken. Heritage Tile Conservation removed and reinstated the tiles where necessary. Below are images of the Delft tiles, documented prior to removal and a damaged tile showing stages in the restoration process.
