Case Study
Project: Iznik Chimney
Client: Victoria & Albert Museum
We were commissioned to remove, conserve and remount the Iznik ceramic tiled fireplace situated in the corridor adjacent to Gallery 33. The fireplace was to form part of a touring exhibition of Islamic artefacts, so it was essential to design and construct a lightweight, demountable structure to support the exhibit. Capel House, New Broad Street, London
Heritage Tile Conservation was commissioned to restore and remount three fireplaces designed by the architect CFA Voysey (circa 1908) for Capel House, New Broad Street, London. The tiles had separated from their backing and many tiles were damaged and missing. The original tiles were made by the Medmenham Pottery.
